Greg Minnaar has this morning suffered a broken left collar bone in training for the World Downhill Championships. Following a visit at the hospital here in Zell am See in Austria, the prognosis is for a recovery in the next 4 weeks. The break is not complicated and does not require surgery. Naturally Greg will not be competing in any of the forthcoming events scheduled for Global Racing but intends to remain in Europe and conduct his Big Air Training Camp in Spain in October.
Greg is naturally devasted by the accident, which occurred in the rooted forest section at the top of the course. Greg's leg hit a tree at speed and he fell hard on his left shoulder. Greg wants to thank his friends Steve Peat and Mick Hannah who helped him on site and alerted the medical staff of the race. Greg would also like to thank his mechanic Mike van Zyl for all the work he's done to his Orange bike for this race, it was absolutely perfect. Finally Greg would obviously like to thank all his team mates at Global Racing and the National Team of South Africa, for their well wishes and support, and he promises he will be track side to support all of them over the coming days.
