ich würde nicht dauernd auf dem gewicht rumreiten. die hauptgründe warum man mitm DH bike nicht aufn berg kommt sind eigentlich die übersetzung und die geo. sonst denken die "ahnungslosen" leute wieder, dass es uns nur zu anstrengend ist selber hochzutreten. ich würde schon unmissverständlich klarstellen, dass es rein technisch nicht geht.

naja, hab auch mal bisl was geändert. hab in ein paar wochen englisch klausur, kann icht schaden mal bisl was zu tun.

Downhill is one of the fastest growing segments of mountainbiking. In most cases the downhill rider reaches the top of the mountain by lift. Pedaling up to the top of the trail is nearly umpossible because a downhill bike doesn't have the necessary gear ratio for uphill riding and the frame geometry is not designed for it either.
Since 1990 the technology which is used for Downhill cycles is getting more and more complex. Nowadays, Downhill bikes are well developed and the most modern technology is used building them. (Such a modern bike has a big disadvantage: Weight.) A Downhill bike weights between 16 and 25 kilogramms. They usually feature a full-suspension design with a wheel travel of around 200mm. A downhill bike is also equipped with hydraulic disc brakes with a brake disc diameter of 203mm. That's necessary to be able to control the bike in every situation and to prevent problems with overheated brakes. There is also a chainguide needed to minimize chain slap and to deter the chain from falling off the chainring in bumpy terrain. Tyres with a large volume are essential to have enough grip. The rest of the components are constructed for durability. They have to bear enormous forces, which are caused by the jumps and drops during a downhill ride. A low centre of gravity helps to stay stable on the bike on difficult and technical trails. The price for such DH race bikes starts at around 4000 sFr.
