****17.Juni 07 ****( lt. http://www.mtb.si ):
The Zagreb T-Mobile Downhill definitely canceled for this season. A new venue and date set for 2007.
After 13 years of holding the Olympus Downhill at Sljeme above the city of Zagreb, Croatia, this year brought a new title sponsor T-Mobile and a whole lot of headache with course permits for the organizer. The original date of May 14 was first troubled by permits for the chalift served north face course, then the race was also kicked off the old-school south face course. A new date was set for September 24th which should give the organizers from Zagreb 900 club enough time to somehow produce the permits or, more likely, find another venue.
New venue was actually found on the northern side of the mountain, starting just below the ski slope and finishing in town of Bistra, just 22 km out of Zagreb. But the sponsor and mayor of Bistra were not in favour for the September event so they agreed with the organizers to hold it in 2007.
So the race is canceled for 2006, the region is left without the only UCI Class 1 downhill race and Croatia even without their National Championships which are now planned to be held in Pazin in Istra in October.
The date for next year’s "Zagreb" race has been set. The Bistra T-Mobile Downhill 2007, also a UCI Class 1 event, will be held on June 17 2007.
According to some rough information from event director Robert Gelo the new course finishing in Bistra will be at least 3 km long and will have no less than 400 m elevation drop. It will run entirely through the forest.
